Sisters Sandi Wilson and Donna Rodgers had no disagreement when it came to naming their tea and gift business. Colcord Tea was named after the area of beautiful ponderosa pine forest where their parents have retired to their hand-built cabin. The cabin lies just below the Mogollon Rim in Arizona. Sandi and Donna, although busy with careers and family in Phoenix, spend as much time as possible with Mom and Dad at their home in Colcord Estates. Donna says, "This is my favorite place in the world. What makes it so special is that Mom and Dad built it all by themselves. We spent almost every weekend here when we were kids. Sandi and I like to think we helped in building it, but to be honest I remember spending most of our time exploring the waterfall and swimming hole in nearby Colcord Creek." Sandi adds, "One of my first memories is Dad getting up at 5:00 am every morning. I'd get up and make him a cup of tea before he started working. Mom was always a coffee drinker, but she's recently switched to tea due to the health benefits." When Sandi was asked how they started this business, the answer was "Whenever we got together at the cabin we would spend hours on the front porch discussing business ideas. We wanted a superior quality product everyone could enjoy. One weekend we got out an antique teapot and made some Darjeeling my Dad had received as a gift. It was much better than the store bought tea we were used to. After more research we finally found a source for this most sought after tea, and our business was born!" After years of dreaming and researching we had finally found the business we were looking for. We offer an excellent product, and plan to add gifts and other housewares soon. We believe this is one of the best business opportunities we have come across. Our goal is to offer a superior product, unique gifts and excellent customer service. Colcord Tea is truly a family business. Our husbands, and sons, ages 19, 21 & 23 help with labeling, stocking, and deliveries as well as outside sales. Sandi's 8-month-old and 3 year old aren't much help yet, but everyone pitches in to get the work done. Our vision is to eventually be successful enough to spend more time with Mom and Dad and to someday build our own cabin to leave to our kids, as a reminder of what can be achieved with a dream, a plan, and a lot of hard work.
